As it is now getting quite cool, we are looking for stews, casseroles, stir frys that hubby can take to work with him for tea. I bought him a soup thermos from Aldi which holds up to 800ml of food. It has a large opening at the top, so I can put stews, casseroles, etc in it and he can eat out of it with a fork. This is great for him as he may not always get back to his depot and be able to use a microwave to heat up his food.
Now he doesn’t have to worry about it. He takes his hot food to work with him and eats whenever he gets the chance to.
- 500 g mince / ground beef
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 TBSP oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp fresh ginger
- salt and pepper
- shallots, diced
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and brown the beef with the garlic in the oil. Drain most of the fat and add the brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, salt and pepper. Simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavours. Serve over steamed rice and top with shallots.
