This easy to make homemade taco seasoning mix can be whipped up quickly and used to season a variety of dishes including tacos, vegetables, meat, salads, soups and more.
Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix
This taco seasoning is easy to make with just a handful of spices that you probably already have in your pantry. Once you have measured out the correct qualities, just mix them together and store in an airtight jar until needed.
What You Need to Make Taco Seasoning
To make this seasoning, you will need a number of spices, most, if not all, of which you probably already have:
- chilli powder
- ground cumin
- garlic powder
- smoked paprika
- dried oregano
- onion powder
- salt
- black pepper
- crushed red pepper flakes
How to make Taco Seasoning
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to mix well.
Store in an air-tight container. I like to store mine in a large, glass mason jar. Place your jar or container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
If you prefer to make a large batch, then just double or triple the recipe.
2 tablespoons of this homemade taco seasoning is equivalent to one taco mix packet.
To season 500g (one pound) of mince (ground beef), or to season 3 cups of cooked beans, use 2 tablespoons of this mixture.
Can I use fresh herbs in the spread?
Yes you can replace the dried herbs with fresh herbs. Use a tablespoon of each of the herbs.
If you grow your own garlic, you can make your own garlic powder and use that if you wish.
