The letters c and g are two of the letters of the English alphabet that are a little harder to comprehend. Both of these letters can be pronounced two different ways, even within the same word.
Making either a /j/ or /g/ for g or a /k/ or a /s/ for c, learning to recognise the sound of these letters will help children become a more fluent reader and speller.
