With this Finish the Pictures ~ Animals pack, children will be introduced to drawing as well as to symmetry all while working on their handwriting and story writing skills.

Directed Drawing for Kids

Children can easily become frustrated when it comes to being creative. Many times, it is because they aren’t entirely confident on where to begin. 

These directed drawing activities for children provides them with an introduction to drawing skills. The step-by-step instructions are easy for children of multiple ages to follow and then duplicate for themselves.

While completing these directed drawing worksheets, children will become confident in their drawing skills while also

  • learning to follow directions
  • gain some amazing artistic skills
  • increase their visual and spatial skills
  • build their fine motor skills

With these printables, anyone can achieve wonderful artistic results.

Finish the Pictures ~ Animals

With this no-prep finish the picture pack, children will finishing the pictures of over 100 animals. The animals are categorised, into seven different categories:

  • Reptiles and Amphibians
  • Cold Region Animals
  • Farm Animals
  • Forest Animals
  • Invertebrates
  • Ocean Animals
  • Safari Animals

To Prepare:

  • Download the pdf file and print off.
  • Children will need a pencil and eraser, to complete the drawing and write a short story.

To use:

  • First, have your child trace over the dotted lines in the picture to complete it.
  • Then, they can colour in the picture.
  • On the lines under the picture, children can write a story using some or all of the words in the word bank. The first word in the word bank is the name of the animal.

The objects included in this pack are: alligator, chameleon, cobra, crocodile, frog, gecko, iguana, lizard, newt, rattlesnake, salamander, snake, toad, tree frog, turtle, arctic fox, arctic hare, beluga whale, caribou, killer whale, kittiewake, musk oxen, penguin, polar bear, puffin, reindeer, seal, snowy owl, tundra swan, walrus, cat, cow, dog, donkey, duck, goat, goose, hen, horse, pig, rabbit, rat, rooster, sheep, turkey, badger, bat, bear, bird, fawn, fox, hedgehog, moose, opossum, owl, platypus, raccoon, squirrel, vole, wolf, ant, bee, butterfly, caterpillar, cockroach, fly head, sand dollar, scorpion, sea shell, shrimp, snail, spider, sponge, squid, starfish, worm, clown fish, crab, dolphin, hermit crab, jellyfish, lobster, narwhal, octopus, oyster, puffer fish, sea urchin, seahorse, shark, sting ray, whale, aardvark, elephant, hippopotamus, honey badger, hyena, impala, leopard, lion, monkey, rhinoceros, tiger, warthog, water buffalo, wildebeest, zebra.

These pages could also be laminated and children can trace the dotted lines with a dry erase marker before using the same marker to write a few sentences about the animal. Then wash off and reuse. Hold together with a binder ring.

    Thank you for the great Finish the Pictures set. I will adapt for multiple grade and ability levels by how much of a sentence starter I provide. Excellent work!
