Family Fun with Catch the Fox

As a parent, I believe it is important to spend quality time with our kids away from all things technological. Yes, we do go camping, bush walking or visiting museums, but sometimes it is fun to stay home, relax and enjoy each others company. Quite often we have a family fun night where we bring out the board and card games. Finding new, fun games can be quite challenging. Talkin’ Toys recently gave us an opportunity to try out this exciting game, Catch the Fox.

Catch the Fox

Catch the Fox is a suspenseful game that all members of your family will enjoy. Aimed at ages four and over, it is  exciting and educational, focusing on simple number skills. It is all about saving the flock of chickens by stopping the greedy fox that has entered the hen house!

On opening the box, there were a few stickers that needed to be added to the fox; his eyes, tongue and some chickens onto his pants. Then the number stickers needed to be added to the dice. Once this was done, the chickens, which came in two parts, needed to be put together. This was a bit fiddly to do and if you didn’t make sure they clicked properly, they would fall apart again. In saying this, these parts only have to be assembled once before playing the game for the first time.

To Play

After activating the foxes’ underwear, it was time to see which player would go first. To decide, each person made their best chicken sound, the winner going first. After rolling the dice, the player places the number of chickens into the pockets of the foxes’ underwear. Then, the player pushes down on the foxes head one time. If nothing happens, the next player takes their turn. This continues until suddenly, without warning, when the foxes’ head is pushed, his pants disappear and the chickens start rolling all over the place. The first person to rescue five chickens by placing them into their hen house wins!

We have had many nights of fun and laughter with this game. The only thing I would like to make you aware of is the size of the chickens. They are quite small, not much larger than a small round ball like a Malteser or Jaffa when assembled, so I would recommend keeping an eye on young children, especially if they like to put things into their mouths.

This game recently won the ‘Best new game 2017′ at the London Toy Fair and also won the “Game of the Year’ at the 2016 Paris Toy Fair.

You can watch it being played here in this awesome video review!

Catch the Fox is available is all leading toy stores.
