This fun pin punching activity is great for hand-eye coordination, concentration and strengthening your child’s hand. Children not only enjoy the process, but the love the end result as well.
Using Push Pin Worksheets
To use push pin worksheets, first you will need to print your template. Children will also need a piece of coloured construction paper behind the worksheet. A foam core board can work great as a buffer to stop the pokes reaching through to the floor or the table.
Using this type of setup, children will be poking through the template and through the coloured construction paper, enabling them to create a fun design they can hang up when completed.
Then, grab a push pin. A larger pushpin works well for younger children, while the smaller ones are great for older and more experienced children.
Have the child lay themselves down on a rug or the carpet, then have them prop themselves up on their elbows/forearms. Completing the push pin activities in this manner, helps build core strength. Children can also complete these worksheets while sitting at a table.
Students will then poke the paper by pushing the pushpin through the template and construction paper and pull out. Repeat until they have poked through all the dots on the entire template.
Remove the template and place the completed coloured construction paper design up to the light or place on a window to see the design filter through.
NOTE: You will want to be sure your child is the appropriate age for using these push pin tools. Always train your students with proper usage and supervise your students when using any tool you’ll be using in your homeschool and classroom.
