Chocolate Blood (Edible)
Combine light corn syrup (I used glucose syrup) with red food colouring until you get a shade that closely resembles real blood. Carefully add a small amount of cocoa powder to the syrup to darken the shade and cause the fake blood to turn opaque like real blood.
Perfect the consistency by either thinning the blood by adding water or by thicken it with a couple of pinches of cornflour.

Realistic Looking Edible Blood
Your mixture should be made up of:
97% golden syrup
2% plain or cornflour
0.7% red food colouring

Always add the golden syrup then a small amount of cornflour or plain flour, and then the food colourings. Give it a good mix.
If it is too pink/orange add red. Only add blue when you have at least put 3 tsp of red in. If you add too much blue, it will go purple and you will have to start again.

I forgot to take photos of the boys playing with this one, but we did find it the second best one after the Chocolate Blood.
