Reed diffusers look great and help keep your house smelling wonderful. The only problem is the artificial fragrances that are used in bought reed diffusers. The good news is that you can make your own, for a fraction of the cost. This DIY Reed Diffuser is also quick to make, and make great presents as well.
For the base oil, I like to use fractionated coconut oil or sweet almond as they are thinner oils and will travel up the reeds better. The fractionated coconut oil is clear which is great for transparent jars. The alcohol helps bind all the ingredients together, therefore helping the reeds better draw up the scents. You can use any glass jar that matches with your home decor. I found mine at an Op Shop, though you can get them anywhere or even recycle a glass jar that you have laying around the house. You can also decorate the jar to suit your home decor as well.
What you will need:
- small glass jar with a small opening

- Add the rest of the reeds and fan them out.

What is your favourite blend?
These DIY Reed Diffusers release a very light, subtle scent. They work well in a small, enclosed room. I like to flip the reeds every couple of days to help refresh the scent, and once they are completely saturated, I replace them. The oil will also start to lose its scent, so I like to replace that once a month. You can get a stronger scent by diffusing essential oils with a diffuser.
