B has always struggled slightly with math. He can add and subtract quite well, though sometimes he is just to lazy to think. Since he has started his grade 3 math books, he is struggling a little more, so I made these Christmas Math beads to help him grasp the basics of math before he gets much further with his math PACE’s. And since they are Christmas beads, he thinks they were specially made to be used over the Christmas holidays!

Christmas Math Beads

The first two lots (green and red) have only ten beads on them each, while the third and fourth ones from the top have twenty beads on it.  The next lots have a 40, 40 and 50.

These particular ones have been used to help B with addition and subtract as well as by counting by 2’s, 5’s or 10’s.

R has also be using these for his multiplication sums as well.

I made them by adding different coloured beads to a piece of string. I tied the ends with a knot and then painted them with clear nail polish to stop the knot from slipping open.

Our boys have found these to be a great resource when counting, adding, subtracting and basic multiplying.
