Cherry Blossom Fans

For these cherry blossom fans, I purchased these paper fans from Cleverpatch. You can make your own fans with a piece of paper and two large paddle pop sticks.

To decorate your fans, draw on brown lines to represent the branches of a tree. Draw as many trees and branches as you wish.

Dip the end of a cotton bud into red or pink paint and dab it onto the fan. Decorate your trees with flowers. Let it dry and then you are ready to keep yourself cool with your gorgeous cherry blossom fans.

To make your own fans:

Firstly, place your paddle pop stick on the short side of the paper. If the paper is to high/tall, cut the paper to the same height as your paddle pop stick.

Decorate the paper with brown trees and branches and then with pink and cherry blossoms. Set aside until dry.

Then, fold the paper in concertinas by folding one piece, then folding it back on itself. Make each fold the same width as your paddle pop stick.

When you have finished folding the paper, using a hot glue gun, paste on edge of the paper to one paddle pop stick and then do the same with the other end of the paper and the other paddle pop stick.

You can hold the bottom together with a rubber band.

What other ways could you decorate a fan?
