Love Should Not Hurt: Letting Go of the Pain to Live In Freedom
by Erin Sluka
In her first book, Erin tells how she had been in a abusive relationship for 6 years, before escaping.
She had put on a smile and tried to hide the pain she was feeling, hoping that she fooled those around her. She built up walls so high that no one could break through them, until one day, her faith gave her the courage she needed to escape from the relationship.
In this short but inspirational book, Erin writes about escaping the emotional prison of an abusive relationship and finding freedom. Her story shows what an abusive cycle is like, but it is not the main focus. She focuses more on the hard work that started after she left, her recovery, especially from the emotional abuse and how she struggled with it. It is not an easy topic to talk about, but Erin bravely shares her story with everyone.
With this book, Erin is hoping to help those who are in a similar situation. To help them find the courage to sort through their feelings, slowly start to heal, so they too are able to have the fulfilling lives.
If anyone you know is in this kind of relationship, reach out to them, and let them know they are not alone. Be there for them to lean on and encourage them to get professional support.
