As we live in Australia, I thought is was time to learn a little about the country we live in. This Australia Unit Study is great for kids who want to learn about the history of Australia.
To learn more about the history of Australia, we completed a variety of activities.
The first activity we did was to bake some cookies in the shape of Australia. Yes, I know Tasmania is missing, but that is how the cookie cutter came. We did talk about this Tasmania being a state of Australia.
We also decorated the cookies using the colours of Australia.
Next, the boys made some Australian animals out of clay, before painting them when they were dry.
They made a kangaroo, platypus and two echidnas. They also made food for each of the animals; little black ants and some plants.
Next, the boys decorated a map of Australia with pencil shavings. For this I found a blank map of Australian on google and the boys sharpened all their school pencils and glued on the shavings.
We broke 3 plastic sharpeners this day! We also sharpened all out colouring and lead pencils which was great.
We also completed this Australia Unit Study.
